2010 Motogp Laguna Seca its just for Lorenzo

The biggest event on the 2010 schedule, the sixth annual Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, is set for July 23-25 and features the prestigious MotoGP World Championship. At the 2008 race, Tom Cruise along with 131,250 fans watched Valentino Rossi score his first victory on American soil. It was an epic battle between Casey Stoner and Rossi, with many changes of the lead and some very close racing. Rossi sealed his victory with a kiss, parking his bike in Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s legendary corkscrew, a series of turns with a 300 foot elevation change and kissing the pavement

“Safe second” with Championship in mind for Lorenzo

It's always difficult when a race is split like this and I think I didn't ride quite as well in the second race as I felt I had been doing in the first,” said Lorenzo, who now holds a 47-point advantage over Pedrosa in the Championship. “Dani was very, very strong and I was on the limit trying to stay ahead. When he passed me I tried briefly to stay with him but he was much faster than me today and I was going to have to take a lot of risks to stay with him; the safest thing for me to do was finish second and take 20 points for the Championship.”
It was another strong result for Lorenzo and came on a track that remains one of just four on the current calendar at which he has still not tasted victory in any GP category. “I am happy because I never really liked this track and now I've been second here two years in a row. Now we go to Laguna and I am very excited about racing there again," he added

Lorenzo Hatrick: Enggland, Netherland and Spain
"This is very special. After losing so closely last year I was happy but not completely so and today I can say I am completely happy, winning here at my home race. It was very difficult today because it was so hot and the front tyre was sliding a lot. I thought I was going to have a big battle with Dovizioso because he was pushing very hard but then he crashed and I was alone; it was lucky for me because then I was able to take it more gently to the finish. I think I rode a clever race today. I am so grateful to my team and to everyone at Yamaha and Bridgestone because they are working so hard to make our bike competitive at every track. I also want to say thank you to all the fans that came to watch today, it is a great feeling for me to win here in front of them all."

Lorenzo Fan Club in full splendour at Montmeló

The Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya over the weekend saw Jorge Lorenzo’s fan club in full swing, as they prepared and carried out a well-planned programme of support for the Mallorcan in his home race.

Located in Tribune G at the Barcelona circuit, the numerous members of ‘marea X-fuera’ ensured they were both seen and heard as they cheered Lorenzo on to his fifth win of the season with a huge 150m2 banner and flags which all bore the new ‘Spartan’ logo that the Fiat Yamaha rider displayed on his helmet.

In addition, hundreds of fans were issued with black flags around the circuit and a small section of the JL99 Official Fan Club took a tour of the Montmeló paddock accompanied by the rider.

In this motogp.com video you can see the efforts and organisation that were put in by the members of the Official Fan Club, and how they executed and celebrated their plans during an intense weekend of action at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Catalunya I am Coming

Catalunya I am Coming lorenzo jorge

After winning two victories in a row at Silverstone and Assen, Fiat Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo will be arriving in his home city of Barcelona for Round 7 of the 2010 MotoGP Championship. With a 47-point lead in the series and the chance to please his home fans, Lorenzo will be aiming for total domination on home soil. Lorenzo will be joined by two-time Japanese Superbike Champion Wataru Yoshikawa, who is filling in on the Fiat Yamaha team for the injured Valentino Rossi. Last year it was Rossi who upset Lorenzo in front of his home crowd at Catalunya. The FIat Yamaha duo became tangled in a last-lap battle for the lead, and Rossi would go on to say that his victory over Lorenzo at Catalunya was one of his best ever wins. This year the action will be much different, however, with Rossi out of the picture still rehabbing his broken leg. After earning a win in the first Spanish round at Jerez, Lorenzo's motivation will have to be securing his second '10 Spanish GP victory, having taken the checkers at Jerez earlier this year. "Montmelo is a very special track for me,” said Lorenzo. “it is the closest to Mallorca and I can feel the people supporting me. Last year I lost at the final corner but now I will try to come back to the podium to celebrate with all my fans. We have a big gap in the standings and it gives us confidence and allows us to be calm, but the team will be working at the same level, I am sure. We still have twelve more races, double what we've already had! We should enjoy Montmelo and then, after these three consecutive races, we have earned a little break - a week for a rest!" Lorenzo’s closest rival will be that of Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa. With a second-place finish at Assen after his lackluster eighth-place finish in Great Britain, Pedrosa also returns to his home track, where he won in 2008. At Assen Pedrosa set a new circuit record, and although the team hasn’t had much time to recover they are in top form and in good sprits.

2010 Barcelona beckons Lorenzo to home challenge as Yoshikawa joins team

After two commanding wins in a row at Silverstone and Assen over the last two weekends, Jorge Lorenzo lands in his home city of Barcelona this weekend with a championship lead of 47 points and a plan to delight his Spanish fans with another win on home soil. He has flown the Fiat Yamaha flag alone for the last three races following Valentino Rossi's accident in Mugello, but this weekend he will be joined by Yamaha's experienced Japanese test rider, Wataru Yoshikawa. The two-time Japanese Superbike Champion will be riding Rossi's M1 while the Italian is out of action, backed by Rossi's usual crew who make a welcome return to the paddock this week. Last year the Mallorcan-born Lorenzo lost out to his team-mate Valentino Rossi in a titanic last-lap battle, which Rossi named one of his best ever wins. With the Italian still out of action, Lorenzo is robbed of the chance to exact revenge on his team-mate but a second Spanish win of the season, following his victory in Jerez, would be sweet nonetheless for the 23-year-old and he will be going all out to stand on the podium once again. As one of the key test riders in Yamaha's MotoGP development programme, Yoshikawa is well acquainted with the M1-Bridgestone package. He has ridden as a wild card once previously in MotoGP, at the 2002 Motegi round, but this will be his first visit to the Montmeló circuit. The Circuit de Catalunya features one of the longest main straights in the world, watched over by a vast grandstand, which is always full to bursting from Saturday morning. The rest of the track is characterised by long radius, medium and high-speed sweeping corners, with two tight left-hand hairpins thrown into the mix. This variation combined with regular changes in camber makes the circuit particularly demanding on chassis balance and means that front-end feel is a key concern for every rider.
Jorge Lorenzo:

"We should enjoy Montmeló""Montmeló is a very special track for me, it is the closest to Mallorca and I can feel the people supporting me. Last year I lost at the final corner but now I will try to come back to the podium to celebrate with all my fans. We have a big gap in the standings and it give us confidence and allows us to be calm, but the team will be working at the same level, I am sure. We still have twelve more races, double what we've already had! We should enjoy Montmeló and then, after these three consecutives races, we have earned a little break - a week for a rest!"
Wataru Yoshikawa:

"Helpful for our development""I'm excited about riding the M1 in Spain this week, even if I'm very sorry for Valentino's injury. I have only ridden in a MotoGP race once, at Motegi in 2002, and this is the first time I have ridden at the Montmeló track. We can see from the team's results this season that Yamaha did a good job with the winter development of the M1 and I am sure that these few races I will contest now will be extremely helpful for the future development of our bike."
Wilco Zeelenberg - Team Manager Jorge Lorenzo:

"Keeping focused""After six races we are leading the standings with a big gap so we can be very happy with the job we have done. Jorge has done very well to keep so focused through such a busy period of races and we just have one more before we can all enjoy a short rest. Barcelona is Jorge's home race and last year he lost there very closely to Valentino in an exciting finish. This week we will carry on in the same way, trying to keep focused and aiming for the podium once again."

Davide Brivio - Team Manager Valentino Rossi:

"Good to come back""This weekend our team will come back to the paddock after a strange time watching from home! We go to Barcelona where we have some amazing memories from last year. Of course we will miss Valentino but he is recovering well and now we will give our maximum support to Wataru as he joins our team. It will be nice to see the fourth M1 back on the track, Wataru is an experienced rider even though he doesn't know Barcelona and we will see what happens."
