"I have no doubt that it will be difficult to manage. Although it is very young Jorge is mature beyond his years and has matured greatly since last year. Valentino is the statesman of the sport and has plenty of experience. Both are totally professional and focused on victory . They are not focused on each other, but they are very focused on their game. I hope and belief that it will be a tough fight among themselves. There is also Casey (Stoner, ndr) and I think it would be a struggle to three. The management of two high-profile pilots is something that must be done well. So far this season has gone well and I am confident and optimistic that it will continue. "

Assen 2009 : Lorenzo Planning Rematch
Assen is 22-year-old Lorenzo's favourite circuit and the youngster certainly has an impressive track record there, having won there once in 125cc and twice in the 250cc class on the way to his two world championships. He finished sixth there last year but after his stunning performance at home last time out he will not be happy with anything but a return to the podium for the sixth time this season an d he will be doing everything possible to take back the advantage from his team-mate following their Montmeló thriller.
A hard day's work at the post-race test in Barcelona has put the Mallorcan on an even sounder footing with his M1-Bridgestone package and he is confident that he will once again be a part of the story in Assen.
“I could never have imagined after the crash in Jerez that I would have the opportunity to become leader again so quickly, but here we are at the front with Casey and Valentino!”, he said. “The last three races have been fantastic and almost unbelievable, and now for the three of us it's almost like we're starting the championship all over again. Assen is my favourite track and I am going there feeling very confident in my bike and my Bridgestone tyres and with all the team feeling very motivated. Last year I was sixth so the most important thing is to improve on that, but of course I am aiming for another podium, because consistency is the way to remain close to the top of the standings. We had a positive test in Barcelona and now I will hope to show our improvements with an even better performance in Holland.”

An important factor at the Dutch circuit is the weather. A high percentage of recent races have been rain-affected. One advantage at this circuit, however, is that it has good levels of grip, even in wet conditions, and the marked camber on the track stops puddles being formed.
The circuit has a capacity of over 61,000 seats and more than 100,000 standing places. For the safety of all competitors, the circuit is monitored by a closed TV-circuit with the pictures projected on a video-wall in race control. 25 posts along the track secure competitors' safety.
The nearest international airport is Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, 125 miles from the circuit. Driving from Amsterdam, take the A28 heading towards North Groningen, but exit at junction 32 (Assen-Zuid). The track is located just over a mile south west of Assen, just west of the A28 Motorway (Exit 32) from Amersfoort to Groningen. There is also a train service from Amsterdam, stopping at the airport, to Assen.

Nice race, and, it looks like we have a new Italian-Spanish fight. It makes me remember those days when Givernau and Rossi fights for the first position and now, Lorenzo cames to take Rossi crown??? Dont know, but, this are very good news because we have another pretender to the 2009 world championship and this will promice a great 2009 MotoGp season.
Jorge Lorenzo: "First of all I just want to thank my team, my Mum, Dad and whole family, my friends and all the team workers. Also Yamaha, as it is their home race, it was a difficult race because I didn't really get a very good start, I think I even finished the first lap in third or fourth. After that I began to catch up the pace. I passed Valentino and opened up a little gap, about a second and a half, and he was following me very hard. I had to ride the best I can to get the victory.".

Profile
Lorenzo graduated to road racing and national competition in 1997 and it didn’t take him long to adjust, winning the Aprilia 50cc Cup in 1998. Despite officially being too young, a special dispensation in 2000 allowed him to compete in the Spanish 125cc series at the age of 13 and he made history the following year when competing in Europe and becoming the youngest ever winner of a European 125cc race.
The precocious teenager, once again showing that age was no limit to a quick rise up the ranks of motorbike racing, made his firstforay onto the world stage with Derbi at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez in 2002, the third round of the season. He did not reach the legal age of 15 until Saturday and therefore missed the first day of practice but was unfazed this and impressed the paddock by qualifying for the race, cementing his position in the World Championship over the course of the season as he got to grips with the circuits.
The young Mallorcan came of age the following season, winning his first 125cc Grand Prix in Rio de Janeiro and then going on to win three more races the next term, finishing fourth in 2004 and taking his podium tally to nine before making the step up the quarter-litre class and switching to Honda machinery. Six podium finishes and four pole positions in his rookie 250cc season sealed fifth in the championship and, with a move to the Aprilia factory team, 2006 was widely expected to be his defining year.
The 2008 Rookie of the Year, Jorge Lorenzo made an immediate impact on the MotoGP World Championship with a stunning first five races. The Fiat Yamaha rider took pole for his first ever premier class race –becoming the first man to do so since Max Biaggi ten years previously- and finished second on his debut in an astounding performance. He followed up the feat with pole at the next two races, becoming the first rider to go `three from three´ in his rookie season and turning both top spots into podium finishes.
Lorenzo indeed surpassed all expectations in 2006, dominating the class with eight wins and a record-equalling ten poles, clinching his first world title convincingly. 2007 saw more of the same and an incredible nine pole positions saw him win from every single one of them, claiming his second world title at the penultimate round in Sepang. He also became the most successful 250cc Spanish rider of all time in the process.
A colourful character that is fond of theatrics, Lorenzo has a tendency for exuberant post-race celebrations, which make him a popular figure with the fans. Appearing as a Gladiator, as a boxer and planting ‘Lorenzoland’ flags at Grand Prix where he has conquered are all part of the show.
His nickname ‘Por Fuera’, is an allusion to a flamboyant philosophy and references his outside overtaking manoeuvre enacted on Dani Pedrosa when he claimed his first GP win in Brazil.
